Going on a disney cruise with a baby

So we have talked about Disney World. Today let’s talk about one of my favorites!! A Disney Cruise.

First let’s note that Disney does have some restrictions when in comes to children, but many more benefits. One thing to keep in mind is that the minimum age for a Disney Cruise is 6 months old. Trust me even at that age their is lots of fun that can be had.

The other major thing to note, that we learned while on our first cruise, is the pool restrictions for babies. Disney has minimum requirements for using their pools. A child must be 3 years old and fully potty trained to be able to use the pools at all. This makes sense, but can be a bit of a shock if you are not prepared for it.

What is available for water features for the kids are a baby splash pad on the pool deck. They are a little underwhelming, but our son absolutely loved every second of it.

Also one of the great benefits of a Disney Cruise is Castaway Cay. Disney’s private island. This place is amazing. Also swimming in the ocean can be done at any age, they also do have a huge splash pad on the island.

Now let’s talk about the best perks before we get to our guide. Food is unlimited and free, whenever you want. They do have paid for restaurants if you would like an elevated experience beyond the already amazing service.

All the dining is great, and getting snacks are super easy. What makes things even more amazing is that room service is included and amazing. If your child needs a break or a nap and you are stuck in the room, order up some amazing room service and never go without your entire cruise.

They also have your favorite Disney shows available on the stateroom tv and they stream the musicals that are performed directly to staterooms in case your little one needs a rest or can’t sit still (which happens).

Here are some tips and ideas to consider also:

Choose the right cruise. Disney cruises offer a variety of itineraries, so you can choose one that is right for your family. If you are traveling with a baby, consider a shorter cruise or one that visits ports of call with easy-to-navigate attractions.

Book a stateroom with a crib. Disney staterooms come standard with a crib, so you don't have to pack one yourself.

Pack light. You will be limited on space in your stateroom, so pack light. Bring essentials such as diapers, wipes, formula, bottles, and clothes for your baby.

Take advantage of the Baby Care Centers. The Baby Care Centers on the ships are equipped with changing tables, nursing rooms, and microwaves.

Use the nursery service. Disney offers a nursery service for children ages 3 to 12. This is a great option if you need to take a break or want to enjoy a romantic dinner.

Feed your baby on demand. Don't worry about sticking to a feeding schedule. Feed your baby whenever they are hungry.

Take breaks. Babies need more naps than older children, so be sure to take breaks throughout the day. There are many places on the ship where you can relax and feed your baby.

Be prepared for anything. Things don't always go according to plan on vacation, so be prepared for anything. Pack a first-aid kit and any over-the-counter medications that your baby may need.

Here are a few additional tips:

  • Bring a stroller or baby carrier. This will make it easier to get around the ship and on shore.

  • Pack sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses for your baby.

  • Dress your baby in comfortable clothing.

  • Bring a beach towel and a swim diaper for your baby if you plan on using the pools.

  • Be sure to wash your hands frequently to help prevent the spread of germs.

Most importantly, have fun! Disney cruises are a magical experience for people of all ages, including babies.

Here are a few things to keep in mind when planning your cruise activities:

  • Some activities, such as waterslides and roller coasters, have height requirements.

  • Many shows and parades are long, so you may want to bring a stroller or baby carrier so that your baby can rest.

  • There are a few activities that are specifically designed for babies and toddlers, such as the Oceaneer Club and the Oceaneer Lab.

With a little planning, you can have a magical Disney cruise with your baby!
